Introduction
Welcome to the web site of Cornwall-based sculptor, ceramicist and horticulturalist, Ken Luckhurst, who specialises in Sgraffito and Smoked Earthenware using the coiling process.
Inside you can see examples of his pottery, sculptures, woodcarvings and mixed art forms, for both practical and decorative use.
The ancient coiling technique has been practiced all over the world for thousands of years; it affords the potter finer control than popular wheel thrown methods.
Below are some samples of work: a female torso in white earthenware and porcelain, a coil-built smoked bulbous vase from red clay, and a rearing horse carved from English Walnut.
